|Things I have to thank Joel for
So, yesterday Matt and I spent the day doing fun things... shopping for Riley's room, seeing a movie, etc., just to remind ourselves that life does go on. Plus, we didn't feel like being sad and mopey. So we forced ourselves out of it. Turns out, we must have still been sad and mopey because we crashed at like 9:30 p.m., and slept until almost 9:00 this morning. And I'm still feeling exhausted.
So, I started to make a list of things that I have to thank Joel for. I thought I'd share, to everyone. So I'm not blocking this post to friends-only for a change. This list isn't complete yet. But it's a start. It's also in no particular order:
1. Learning that, as you’re laying flat on your stomach on stage, it is, in fact, possible to get even CLOSER to the floor
2. Realizing that it is possible to memorize a page and a half monologue in one day
3. Understanding that it is possible to be completely driven crazy by someone, and completely adore them in equal amounts at the same time, and that’s okay
4. Uncovering the secret of an easy 10-lb. weight loss plan (it’s called six weeks of a Joel rehearsal)
5. Teaching me a completely different way to look at theater
6. Sharing my enthusiasm for all things Polish
7. Learning Polish so that you could impress my family
8. Sharing my love for certain restaurants in Milwaukee
9. Helping me find the humor in really gross and morbid things like dead babies
10. Helping me find myself, and my voice, during a rough post-college transition
11. Being at least partially responsible for meeting Matt, my husband
12. Giving me something to do in my 20’s and 30’s
13. Letting me get completely frustrated with you, express my total disagreement with you, even getting angry with you, and you (incredibly) never got angry back; in fact, you usually broke down and gave in; which is contrary to popular belief about you, so thank you for letting me see your soft side
14. Dancing with me at my wedding

|WHERE IS EVERYBODY TODAY??
It's really quiet around the office, and it's really quiet around LJ. Or, so it seems.
And I'm bored. Because I do not feel like working today.
I think I'll suck it up, try and get some work done for about the next hour or so, and then clean my office. That's always a good way to pass the time.
Someone entertain me!!!
|Some random thoughts for a Friday
Isn't it wonderful how Fridays always sort of have this magically relaxed feeling around the office? Is it just because it's Friday, and everyone is just trying to clear off their plate, rather than start anything new? Or is it because we're all just too damn exhausted frome the previous 4 days?? Regardless, I always love the feeling around the office on a Friday.
Am I the only one who thinks the Pope is dead.... has been dead for a while, and the Vatican is just pulling a Weekend at Bernie's?
This morning I learned that my cat Isis knows how to catch a ball. She catches it just like a person. She can do it repeatedly. It's quite hilarious.
Last night we had our LAST rehearsal at the WilMar Center. Starting on Sunday, we actually get to load-in to the Bartell!! I'm very excited. This cast is SO ready to kick-it into high gear!
I'm going to be on WORT on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., and on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. to plug the show.
This morning I could see the sun shining through, and could hear the birds chirping loudly, making spring-like noises. And it got me very excited for the impending warmer weather. And then I pulled up the blinds and saw our snow-covered backyard. That was cruel.

You people keep talking about pancakes, and now I want pancakes!!! Anyone wanna join me at Perkin's or Denny's for dinner (for pancakes, of course!) Those are the only two places where I know you can get breakfast any time.
(I'm only half kidding)
|Happy Slim Tuesday!
Happy Fat Tuesday, everybody! Go wild and crazy and indulge today!
Every year, for Lent, what I give up is: giving up things for Lent! :)
By the way.... with the supposed growing weight problem in this country, are we going to have to call it Obese Tuesday soon??

|Should I stay or should I go?
No. I'm not actually going anywhere. I'm just listening to the 80's station, which no longer calls themselves the 80's station, and they're playing The Clash.
So, for no particular reason, here's an update on me. Because I read all of your posts so much, and find that, in general, I comment on myself very little.
Um... um...... hmpf. Well, I'm directing "Naughty", and it's going super-fab! I can't wait for load in on Sunday. I've been holed up a lot on the weekends. Matt and I have been spending a lot of quality time together, just being mellow. I think that's because we know that it's not going to last long, so we're taking advantage of it while we can. Soon, February will turn into crazy time!
Let's see... what's coming up in the next few weeks? The opening and closing of Naughty. Soon to be followed by the opening of Matt's show - Proper: The Series, which means he's going to be busy for the next 6 weekends after that. There's the Addy's, which are the advertising awards. I know we've gotten some, but this year they're not telling you for which clients or how many. However, I was able to find out that we did in fact win at least one Addy for the one client that I work on the most. Hooray!!! So, there's that. And there's the Oscars, which I love. And then there's the wonderful visit from heidijoy
! And my birthday. And a trip to Appleton for the Christening of my soon-to-be goddaughter, Katie! And, somewhere in there, it's looking like I may have to take a business trip to, of all places, Oklahoma! Oh joy! All in all, a pretty full month.
That's it for now. Don't you just feel so enlightened?!

|R.I.P. Mr. Oberhauser (a.k.a. "Obie")
I just found out from my mom that my high school soccer coach, Mr. Oberhauser, just died, We all called him Obie. Apparently he had cancer. I am sad. He was an extremely kind man who was also very encouraging. And we all had such fun playing. He truly loved and cared about his "soccer kids."
Farewell Obie! Current Mood: sad
How do I post a picture (jpg format) within my journal entry so that y'all can see it??? Is this something I can do with an unpaid account??
Your help is appreciated!!!
|Attention all Madisonians!
You MUST get outside this afternoon, even if it's just for like 10 minutes. It's gor-gous outside!!! It's amazing how warm 44 degrees can feel in February, huh?
And tomorrow it's going to be in the 50's!
, this is why I can't even begin to tell you what the weather is going to be like when you come to visit. It could be 60's, it could be -10, and anywhere in between.

|Georgia on my mind...
So last night neither groucho nor I had rehearsal. So, I had rented "Ray", and we watched it. Wow! Jamie Foxx did a fantastic job! He really did completely let the spirit of Ray Charles take him over throughout that entire movie. Without having seen all of the best actors in their respective films yet, I'm convinced that he deserves the Oscar. I'm such a fan of Ray Charles that I was completely compelled by his story, and of course loved hearing the music throughout. Which I am now listening to on iTunes!
Next up in my race to see at least a majority of the big Oscar contenders..... probably The Aviator. Followed by Million Dollar Baby.
The clock is ticking. Not enough time left. Especially with being in rehearsal right now, and with tech week quickly approaching.

|A ho-hum Monday
Wow! You guys posted a lot over the weekend. I have some serious catching up to do!!!
It's a dreary Monday, but I'm feeling very good today - very warm and fuzzy, and optimistic.
Although, part of me has this feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach about work. Like something bad is going to happen, or that there's going to be some sort of confrontation or shakedown. Not necessarily with me. Just with SOMEONE. I hate that feeling. We'll see how today's staff meeting goes, I guess.
One thing I've learned about this place over the past year... it is all a big political game. You wouldn't think so... but there are a lot of politics going on. And a lot of catty backstabbing by people that you wouldn't expect it from. So, I have decided to just stay as vanilla as possible, try to stay out of it as much as possible.... just smile and keep my mouth shut. I think that's the best way to play, at least for now. It's too bad. But one thing I've learned.... you have this just about anywhere, to some extent. No place of employment is even remotely perfect.
Looking forward to the Naughty line-through today, and seeing how off-book people really are, once they are forced to take their scripts out of their hands. If I have time, I may get treats to give to people for being off book each scene!!! We'll see if I have time. My best friend is in town for an in-service, and we're going to dinner after work.

|Blah blah blah
I just can't focus. And I definitely have plenty of work to do. But I just don't care right now. I get about 15 minutes worth of work done, and then I hop online, or chat with my co-workers and such.
If this is what it feels like to have A-D-D, I'm so glad that I generally don't. Because my state of unfocused is actually driving me crazy. I prefer to be productive and walk away from the day feeling like I really got something done. And as much as I want to get something done, I just can't.
Luckily, in an hour, I get to get out of the office for a little while. A few of us are going on a client-related field trip. Nothing terribly exciting. But a chance to leave my desk for an hour or so.
Tomorrow is only Thursday, isn't it???
Poo! This is the LONGEST......WEEK......EVER!!!
Is it really 11:21 a.m. already???? I feel like I just got here about 20 minutes ago!!!!
|Tuesday, January 25th, 2005|
So.... apparently the four movies that I need to see in the next month are Closer, Aviator, Ray, and Million Dollar Baby. With those four, I'll have most of my bases covered when it comes to the Oscars, because I've already seen Finding Neverland, Sideways, Hotel Rwanda, Eternal Sunshine, etc. There are a few smaller flicks in there that I may try and fit in as well, but at least with these, I'll be much more informed than I was last year. Besides
Just like everyone else, I'm disappointed that Paul Giamatti didn't get a nod, and that Clint may win best director yet again. But, he does get some great performances out of his actors apparently, and they seem to love working with him, so perhaps he does deserve it?
, when can we expect to see your Oscar pool ballot??
I think it's going to be a very tough pick this year. I really do think some of these categories could go any which way among at least three of the nominees. Plus it's always so hard for me to separate who will win from who I think should win, and therefore I end up losing the Oscar Pool every year!

|I love being snowbound!!!!!
Well, we are officially stuck in the house all day today until they come and plow our street. We already watched 2 of the neighbors attempt to get off the street, and it wasn't pretty. That's okay. We have no plans this weekend, and no place to be until tomorrow.radio_redhead
, sorry we didn't make it to Mickey's. We just didn't want to kick it to the east side in this weather. The drive there may not have been so bad, but the drive home may have been. Please let us know when the next show is!!!!
Last night was a fabulous night. I got home at 4:30 (okay, I haven't been home before 6:15 in MONTHS!!!), Matt and I walked to Chang Jiang and got some Chinese food, and then we curled up and watched the extended version of Return of the King. It was a lovely evening!! Okay, we did some other stuff too, but I'm not going to talk about THAT! :)
This morning I slept in a bit, Matt went out with the snowblower and cleared not only our sidewalk, but the sidewalk of our neighbors as well. He even did our next door neighbor's driveway because they don't have a snow blower. Now he's downstairs in the shop, doing guy-things, and I just spent some time on the phone catching up with my dear friend Erica in Duluth. She had her 2 year-old Sam come on the phone and say, "Hi Auntie Tracy!" which just made me melt because it's such a novelty for me. I'm probably never going to be an actual aunt - ever - considering I have no siblings, and I can't imagine my brother in-law ever having kids. (Marriage, maybe. Kids, I doubt it. ) I'm going to be the godmother to her newborn Katie!!! I'm so excited!!!
Now it's time to clean the house. Because if I'm going to be stuck in the house all day, I need it to be clean or I'll go crazy. That's just the nutball I am. I think I'm going to bake cookies too. Yum!!! After that... I don't know. We may venture out to do something. We may see a movie, or we may just go get movies and come back home again. It's been kind of fun to have the opportunity to hibernate all weekend. Especially because we usually operate at such a frantic pace.
Right now, our future is dictated by the snow plows!! Current Mood: cozy

The snow is here!!
It just started, so the roads are still fine. But I have a feeling they're going to get really bad really fast.radio_redhead
, Matt and I were planning to come see y'all at Mickey's tonight, but I really need to see how the weather is by then. So if we don't see you, I'm apologizing ahead of time! I'm sure there will still be a good turnout. A lot of people who frequent Mickey's walk there.... rather than us snobby west siders who have to drive!!!!
